Why did you travel so far?
To find yourself?
In a distant land, that is
More myth than reality
You left behind your safe harbour
Now
We only receive post cards
In meaningless verse
Was it
To find a new you?
Free of memory and connection
A journey to the new world
That we could not join you on
No family outing, this
A kind of diaspora
When will you remember,
The old country?
