Handyman
and politician’s promises
Vie for support
Your vote or savings
Both aim to extort

Leave your money
To charity
A legacy of kind
Or under the bed
For the council
To find

Dreams of retirement
For latter years
To enjoy
But no-one is here
To buy or employ

Instead a wife,
Mother and neighbour
Now gone
The house is  empty
And she Is anon
