Why does England roar

With elation, anger 

Or despair? 

When actions 

In England’s name

Bring forth reaction 

In each, 

That is the same

What shared desire 

Is sated, or

National pride tainted, 

When 

English skill is feted

Or more often 

English 

Failure hated

Why does this shared 

Nationalist belief 

A kind of

Unresolved grief, 

Find temporary relief 

In the accomplishments 

Of the few?

As if, 

In their endeavours 

We can imbue

That we have

Achieved victory too.
